Tesla has entered into a deal with Samsung to build a new chip factory, expand Semi charging infrastructure, ramp up Megapack production, and more, in today’s roundup from Jowua.
Tesla Expands Semi Charging Infrastructure
In an effort to make Semi more convenient for customers, Tesla is expanding its charging infrastructure once again. The company is set to build a Megacharger at a PepsiCo facility near Denver, Colorado. Tesla has already applied for a permit to build a new six-stall Semi charging facility in Denver. Regional deliveries by PepsiCo and others are made via Tesla Semi from California to Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, and Colorado.
Tesla Shanghai Megafactory Produces 1,000th Megapack
The Shanghai Megafactory has reached a new milestone: production of the 1,000th Megapack. The facility managed to reach this milestone less than six months after the start of mass production. The 1,000th unit will be delivered to Europe, according to information from the company.
Tesla Model Y Receives IIHS Top Safety Pick+ Award
The 2025 Tesla Model Y has received the Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). This is a higher level of award than Top Safety Pick, as the car received a “Good” rating in the moderate overlap front test, higher than other cars tested. The new Model Y received top marks in all categories tested, which is why it received the Top Safety Pick+ award.
Samsung Is Building a Multi-Million-Dollar Chip Factory for Tesla
The giant Samsung will produce AI6 chips for Tesla as part of a $16.5 billion deal at its new factory in Texas. Elon Musk confirmed the news, saying that the $16.5 billion investment is the bare minimum. According to him, the Samsung deal will likely be much bigger.
Musk also shared some interesting details in a post on X:
“Samsung agreed to allow Tesla to assist in maximizing manufacturing efficiency. This is a critical point, as I will walk the line personally to accelerate the pace of progress. And the fab is conveniently located not far from my house.”
