Driving a Tesla is not only about the electric motor and the environmental friendliness that comes with it. Driving a Tesla is a technological experience that amazes on many levels. One of these amazing features is the gaming experience that Tesla offers. Next to the included games, Tesla models X and S also offer a steam integration, which allows you to play your favorite games on the go. In order to play the games properly however, you will want to connect your controller. Whilst there are many products on the aftermarket, some might want to just rely on what they have have at home. Luckily Tesla allows you, to connect your PS5 controller. But how can you connect the PS5 controller to the Tesla?
Below is a quick guide on how to do so:
I. Prepare the PS5 Controller for Connection
In order to prepare the PS5 controller for connection, you need to put the controller into discovery mode. To do that, follow these steps:
- Press the Playstation-Button and the "Create"-Button like in the picture below.
- Hold them until a blue light starts flashing.
- Release the buttons.
Your PS5 controller is now ready to pair and can be found by your Tesla.
II. Ready for connection with the Tesla
Next, you need to connect the controller to your Tesla. For that go to the Tesla settings and follow these steps:
- Click on the Bluetooth button on your screen
- Select the "add a new device" option
- Look for DualSense Wireless Controller
- Select the controller and pair with it
- Once pairing is complete, your controller should stop blinking and the screen should state the controller under "Connected Devices"
III. Get gaming
After you set up the connection between your Tesla and the controller, you are ready to dive into the Tesla Gaming World.
Why PS5 Controllers aren't your best choice
While the PS5 controller is the common choice over the XBOX controller, it still isn't optimal for the use in Tesla. As newer Teslas only allow for data transfer over one USB A connector in the glovebox and only allow for two Bluetooth devices to be connected simultaneously, the use of PS5 controllers quickly can become a nuisance of disconnecting and reconnecting several Bluetooth devices.
The solution?
A gaming controller fit for the Tesla experience - the Wireless Charging Controller by Jowua.
But why is this controller better?
1. Multi-Device Compatibility: This controller comes with a device switch, that allows you to pair to all the different Tesla Models, as well as Switch, Android phones, Apple phones and MacBooks, Windows PCs or even your Switch.
2. Multiple-Connectivity Modes: The Jowua Controller can connect to the device of your desire either directly through Bluetooth, through the USB dongle included in the package or directly via USB cable. Like that, you are prepared for any circumstances and can maintain a strong connection with any device.
3. Compact: The Jowua controllers are designed to perfectly fit into your Teslas storage options as well as on the charging pads. You arrived at your destination and want to take the gaming session inside the house? As the controller is 42% smaller compared to an Xbox controller and much lighter with only 145g, you can simply slide the controller in your pockets and stay ready to game on the go.
4. Triple Performance Modes: The Jowua gaming controller comes with next-level performance features including:
- Built-in Dual Vibration Motor with 5 vibration levels
- 6-Axis Gyro Sensor
- 3-Level Auto Adjustable Turbo
This controller is designed to ensure that your gaming experience is always at peak performance.
5. Long Lasting Battery Life: The Jowua controller comes with 600 mAh batteries that can offer you 8 hours of nonstop gaming and charge completely in just 2 hours. If you leave them on standby, they can run for a maximum of 25 days on a single charge.
6. Cost-Effective: A single controller is under $50 which is much cheaper compared to PS5 and Xbox controllers. Also if you get the combo version, you can get 2 controllers and a 4-port USB Hub for just $120 as of September 2024.
In conclusion
The PS5 controller surely makes for a good controller in the Tesla. It is easy to connect and works well. But it is not the ideal choice and and for that fact also quite pricey.
Our recommendation therefore is the 2 controller combo, coming with a 4-port USB Hub with multiple ports and data access allowing the connection of DashCams or Sentry Mode.
So what are you waiting for? Grab your controller and get gaming now
