How to Use Robotaxi: Everything You Need to Know
Tesla's long-awaited Robotaxi service is no longer a futuristic concept—it's here, and it's beginning to reshape how people think about ride-hailing. Whether you're an EV enthusiast or just curious about how the system works, here's a complete, up-to-date guide on how to use Robotaxi.
What Is Tesla Robotaxi?
Tesla's Robotaxi is an autonomous ride-hailing service operated by Tesla Model Y Juniper vehicles with Full Self-Driving (FSD) software. Launched in Austin, Texas in June 2025, it has since begun rolling out to more users and cities. Initially invite-only, the Robotaxi app is now available publicly to all iPhone users in the U.S. and Canada, with Android support coming soon.
Currently, a safety monitor rides in the vehicle—typically in the front passenger seat—to supervise the trip, though Tesla aims to fully remove human monitors in the near future. Trump also recently announced that he'll do the necessary adjustment to ease self-driving cars.
