How to turn off a Tesla?

Tesla manages the power itself; while it can't be completely turned off, like a MacBook, it goes into a deep sleep mode when not used for some time. However, here are a few ways to put it into that deep sleep mode

Powering Off Your Tesla After a Drive

1. Finish driving 
2. Shift into Park
3. Exit the vehicle with your phone key and key fob

Your Tesla will automatically power off, turning off the instrument panel and touchscreen.

Automatic Power Off 

If you stay in Park for 30 minutes, your Tesla will power off automatically, even if you are sitting in the driver’s seat.

If you don’t want this to happen, ensure it's plugged into a power source while sitting inside the car.

Forced Power Off

1. Ensure that the car is not moving
2. While sitting in the driver’s seat, tap Controls > Safety > Power Off

Power On Your Tesla

Press the brake pedal or touch the touchscreen to power it back on.
