Last week, Tesla took important steps in the further development of FSD and the Robotaxi service—this and more in today's news review with Jowua.
Giga Shanghai Sales Are Growing
According to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), Tesla Giga Shanghai sold 71,599 cars in June 2025. This marks the first time in eight months that Tesla's car sales in China have increased year-over-year. The factory sold 0.83% more cars than the 71,007 units sold in June 2024, and 16.1% more than the 61,662 cars sold in May.
Giga Shanghai's total sales in the second quarter were 191,720 cars. In the first half of the year, Tesla sold 364,474 cars wholesale. That is down 14.6% from the 426,623 vehicles sold in the first half of 2024.
Tesla China Domestic Sales Are Growing
Tesla China’s domestic sales reached 61,484 units in June, marking a strong recovery from recent months. The figure was Tesla’s second-best result in 2025 so far, behind only March, when the company delivered 74,127 vehicles domestically. The company sold 263,410 Giga Shanghai-built vehicles in China, down 5.36% year-on-year, in the first six months of 2025.
FSD Testing Continues in Europe
While the company continues to navigate regulatory hurdles to bring FSD to market in Europe, it is also testing the technology in several countries in the region. Last week, Tesla confirmed it was testing in Madrid, Spain. The company has previously shown that it has begun testing in Italy, France, the Netherlands, and Germany.
Testing of FSD in China Is Going Smoothly
Tesla began a smooth rollout of FSD in China in February 2025. Now we are increasingly seeing enthusiastic reviews from customers who have tried it. Tesla enthusiast @ray4tesla, who tested FSD for two months, was very pleased with the technology. He said that the driving experience is as close as possible to the human driving experience. Ray also noted that the system is very cautious.
“On narrow roads, it slows down appropriately; on major roads, it picks up speed. When there are a lot of pedestrians or electric scooters, it’s overly cautious — almost too polite,” he wrote.
Tesla Expands Access to Robotaxi
The company is expanding access to its Robotaxi service, which was deployed in Austin, Texas. Initially, access was limited to influencers invited by Tesla. Now, some Austin residents report that they have also received invitations to test the service. The company is now looking to gather as much data as possible in order to improve Robotaxi and roll out the service to other locations in the US.
